Description
“Project J, Justice Barbed Wire and Hip-Hop“, is an audio CD created to educate youth about the Japanese American relocation camps. Audio clips of internees of the camps, combined with music, allow their stories to be heard in their own words. With Rap/spoken word and hip hop music, and a booklet of historical text and photos, the history of the Japanese American people becomes accessible to a new generation.

“Thanks so much for “Barbed Wire & Hip Hop” … It is my first reference listening to “Hip Hop” & somehow found it unusual & interesting & really quite clever to combine a traumatic reference with current musical rhythms & beat. …it seemed strange to hear my voice from the hearings. …in addition to being entertaining, your CD is also educational. I plan to purchase copies for my children, nieces & nephews…”Dr. Mary Oda, former internee, MANZANAR

“I really liked that you had the creative courage to explore new territory and ended up creating something very innovative that also tells an important story. I think my 16 year old niece will really enjoy the CD, and I’ll be sending her the second copy I picked up”. Martin Shinn, Educational Consultant & Jazz Guitarist
